Contrary to the common wisdom, Medium is still a startup.
And this means it’s still going through rapid stages of evolution. (However, its mission – make the Internet what it was designed to be – stays intact.)
Exactly one year ago – when I came to the platform – Medium introduced payouts based on reading time. For those that came this year, it used to be that Medium paid for claps.
Now, we have a new change: and it’s design-related.

What will it change for us, writers?
Personally, I think it’s great.
It will (finally) allow writers to stop obsessing over “packaging” their articles.
There will be less clickbait, more meaningful content, and a better experience for all parties.
